Region Hovedstaden

Flag Denmark

The Capital Region of Denmark (Region Hovedstaden) is one of the country’s five administrative regions, serving more than 1.8 million citizens and hosting some of Denmark’s leading hospitals and research institutions, including Rigshospitalet. With a strong focus on innovation, patient-centred care, and integration across health services, the region has taken a national lead in developing specialised services for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

In 2016, the Paediatric Palliative Care Team was established to provide coordinated, interdisciplinary support for children, adolescents, and their families across hospital, home, and community settings. Alongside its clinical mission, the team runs a dedicated research unit named “PPC Lab CPH” focusing on projects with a direct impact on families and developing innovative approaches to improve both treatment and quality of life. By uniting specialised care with research, the team contributes to shaping future models of paediatric palliative care nationally and internationally.
